Wooden Tables for Transitional Design
If you have ever wondered what type of interior design Unruh caters to, this is the article for you! Many customers look at our table designs and think Farmhouse table, while others see more Mid-Century Modern furniture designs. Well, they are both right! At Unruh, we do not consider ourselves specialists in either interior design! What we try to excel at is Transitional dining room furniture.
What is Transitional Design?
Transitional design is a mixture of modern and traditional interior design. It has only recently grown in popularity, but it is favored by many interior designers around the world.
The goal of Transitional Design is to distance customers from trends and instead encourage them to invest in something that will last. The marrying of traditional and modern taste assures this.
Instead of limiting ourselves to one kind of design, Transitional furniture helps us regain individuality in our space. Transitional furniture shows that our investments can transition with the times and our tastes!
When a wooden table is designed particularly well in the Transitional sense, it will be able to fit into more than one kind of design. I will show you some examples of this below:
The Bakersfield Table
The Bakersfield Table is one of our more popular four-legged tables. The slanted legs add a bit of flair to this simple table design.
In the pictures below, you can see how the dining room determines the design category. With the first dining room, the Bakersfield Table suits the formal feel. With the high-back gray dining chairs and sleek chandelier, this space is perfect for company!
The second picture features the Bakersfield Table in a more casual, modern setting. With the white kitchen and light hardwood floors, the Bakersfield Table looks perfectly comfortable in this contemporary setting.
The Conway Table
Below is another example of the Transitional nature of our table designs. The Conway Table definitely favors more Farmhouse styled homes, but it can still transition from formal to modern. It is characteristically unique in its heavy pedestal base and modern footing.
In the first client space, the thin-bodied, white chairs help to create a modern-looking dining room with the Conway Table. The white booth and blonde-toned floors also make the Conway Table feel more modern.
With that being said, the second picture features a space that feels more like a formal dining room. The darker colors and beautiful chandelier make the Conway Table feel fancier than it does in the first picture.
In this example, the table design AND the table stain are the same. This way you can see Transitional furniture doesn’t just have to do with design, but stain and wood as well.
The Stockyard Table
The Stockyard Table is another one of our dining table designs that can easily transition from one space to another. It is a simplistic pedestal design, with subtle X-shaped legs. This is the perfect table if you felt like the Conway Table above feels too bulky or formal for your taste.
In the first picture below, you can see the more modern and casual styling of the Stockyard Table. Again, the surrounding light colors and blonde hardwood floors make the space seem more contemporary.
The second picture is a more formal-looking dining room with the same Stockyard design. The darker finishes and crystal chandeliers make this Stockyard Table a great formal fit. Both tables are stained differently, but could easily be swapped with one another without changing the entire feel of the space.
How to Avoid Trendy Wooden Furniture
When customers want the longevity of design to be a priority, we at Unruh have a little advice to give.
To have the most optimal Transitional wooden furniture, we tell customers to stay away from trendy colors. If you want your dining room table to stand the testament of time, choose more neutral colors and stains. Wood will never be out of style, so sticking to more neutral and natural stains is the best way to go.
The Unruh Promise
At Unruh, we work hard to make sure these pieces last a lifetime. This is why we offer our Lifetime Warranty with every piece of furniture we make. This assures that no matter what happens to your dining room table, we will fix your table for free!
Our Lifetime Warranty is another reason we stick to Transitional designs. When our customers choose to invest in hardwood furniture, we want to make it worth their while. No matter how your space changes throughout the years, we want your dining table to make you proud.
