The furniture industry is overflowing with particle board, veneers, and a whole host of lightweight substitutes for what furniture is supposed to be made out of: hardwoods. Not so at Unruh.

ALDER |
 |
Adler is the softest of the hardwoods and has a medium density and low shock resistance. | Alder’s rich knots and grain variation provide a lot of variety in color when stained. | $ |
CHERRY |
 |
Cherry is slightly harder than Alder but still on the medium side of density and shock resistance. | Cherry is perhaps one of the most romantic of the hardwoods and as such takes stain with a reddish hue. | $$ |
MAPLE |

Our American Maple is right in the middle in terms of hardness and density. It’s sparse knots and smooth grain make it an excellent writing surface. | Maple is known for its wide and subtle grain pattern which is lends itself well to clean lines and a minimalistic style. | $$ |
HICKORY |

Hickory is as hard and heavy as it gets. It is not easily moved or easily dented, and it's natural beauty is incredible. | Hickory is known for its stark contrast between sap and heartwood, and has a distinct raised grain pattern. | $$$ |
WHITE OAK |

White Oak is by far our favorites of the oaks. It is incredibly hard and has an excellent density factor. | White Oak is renowned for its beautiful grain pattern which takes nearly all finishes with perfection. | $$$ |
WALNUT |

American Black Walnut is, for many, the crown jewel of the hardwoods with its perfect match between hardness and beauty. | While each hardwood has its own unique and attractive features, arguable none finish as rich and full as walnut. | $$$$ |
