Since this is a Thursday I thought it would be fun to tell a throw-back story. I'll start by admitting this is a real photo of me in a 95' Chevy Astro.
Here's the story:
It was October of 2011 and I was in my first year of marriage (my poor wife) and going to seminary full time. We needed money and as luck would have come up with a million dollar idea—Toilet Repairman!
Plumbers charge a lot of money.
Toilets are the easiest thing to plumb.
I'll become a pseudo plumber and just fix toilets.
It couldn't fail.
I had no idea how to fix a toilet, but the idea so fool-proof I couldn't help but go for it. I literally camped out at a Barns & Noble for an entire day and read every book they had on toilets. This is a true story.
"Why didn't I just buy those books?" you ask. Simple: I was saving up for the above mentioned 95' Astro. It was painted white and rust when I got it for $1,400. But $300 later, it was a beautiful glossy black. My sister designed the logos for free and within a week I had the stickers installed and the back stocked with toilet repair parts. I was really excited.
Sadly, the story gets less exciting from there. It kind-of, half-way worked for about a year before I eventually ripped the stickers off and sold the van (my poor wife). I probably made as much money as I lost, but I don't regret any part of it.
I learned all kinds of things that gave me a head start in learning the kinds of things that make Unruh Furniture work. And I have a great photo and story to share.
