Judging from the title, you might’ve guessed today’s topic: food. (With a little football thrown in). More importantly, we bring you two buffet options to host any football watch party this winter. But we have one small request . . . your own recipes! If you have any special dip or game day recipes, please send them our way! We hope to gather a few recipes and share them in a Super Bowl Special in a few weeks. So don’t hog the dip for yourself! Send your best recipe to email@example.com and mention your recipe is for the Unruh blog. We look forward to reading your recipe!
What’s in a Buffet?
What does the word “Buffet” bring to your mind? There are many possible answers. You might have had a bad experience at Golden Corral growing up, forcing you to avoid the restaurant-style buffet for life. You might have read every Warren Buffett book out there and can’t help but see dollar signs every time you see a word that looks close to his last names. But you might have visions of our favorite style of buffet: the sideboard.
Sometimes we receive the question: is there a difference between a sideboard and buffet? The short answer is “no.” No one can stop you from putting picture frames, televisions, plants or food on either piece of furniture. Some people make the distinction in that a buffet sometimes has higher legs. Who’s to say. All we know is that any Unruh buffet you choose, it will look amazing in your kitchen or living room. If you regularly play host to friends and family, you know this kind of furniture is an investment to serve your guests accordingly. Below are a few of our favorite options!
“After what felt like countless hours spent searching KC for the right table for our new home, my Wife and I decided to look at having somebody build us exactly what we wanted. I figured this would not only be more expensive but can be a pain to find someone to build what we wanted. I was wrong. We stumbled on these positive reviews, set up an appointment, Josh walked us through the options, and we had our piece spec’d out in no time. Sam and Josh were very informative and were always quick to respond to any questions my wife and I had. All in all, the table looks great, we are very happy and we were able to help support a local business in the process. Thanks, Unruh Furniture!” -Tyler Pudenz
The Augusta Sideboard buffet option sticks out for its storage space and made-for-serving design. Three drawers on top and two doors below provides the perfect place to keep your fine dishes and platters throughout the year. And an “X” in the middle to hold your wine and drink selection for guests. Lastly, you can customize this buffet in six different types of wood with over 40 options for finishing the piece to your liking. If you have an Augusta, your guests will be satisfied, and amazed, for many years to come.
The Benton Sideboard serves as an all-encompassing buffet option. If you want a longer, larger option to place in your home, this piece is the perfect blend of functionality, strength and size. In addition, the overall aesthetic creates a stunning display: a true work of art. If your old buffet or sideboard has grown tired, the Benton will liven things up pretty quickly. Set up a showroom appointment time so we can get started on your custom buffet ASAP!
Your New “Go-To” Dip
The best part of the furniture-making process, for us at Unruh, is seeing the faces of families and individuals when we drop off their new furniture. But the next best part, for our customers, is getting to use the furniture accordingly! In the context of this article, we know there are some playoff football games coming up. (Or maybe some Hollywood awards season gatherings are more your style)? Regardless, we promised in the title you provide you with the “one dip to rule them all.” The following is a take on “Texas Caviar” and provides a lighter dip option that prevents a gut-bomb feeling afterward. But it’s still delicious! Remember to try this recipe ASAP and send your favorites to firstname.lastname@example.org. Can’t wait to hear from you!
2 cans of sweet corn.
2 cans of black beans.
1 red onion.
1 bundle of cilantro.
Salt and Pepper.
Pour the corn in a colander and rinse with water. Then dump the corn into your salsa/mixing bowl. Repeat the process: pour the black beans in colander and rinse with water. Dump the rinsed black beans into the bowl with the corn. Next, chop your red onion into small pieces and place them in the mixing bowl. Repeat the process with as much or as little cilantro as you’d like. Halve the two limes and squeeze over the mix of corn, beans, onion and cilantro. Lastly, add salt and pepper to taste. Cover your bowl or mix the salsa up with utensils. Cover and place in a fridge overnight. The following day, serve the Sideboard Salsa on your new sideboard from Unruh. Only problem: your guests won’t leave the buffet.
