Color Palettes and Wood Furniture: Ideas For Dining Table Sets

Color palettes in the home are all the rage right now. There’s nothing that looks quite as modern or trendy as sticking to a group of colors. But, if you love wood furniture, specifically for your dining table and chairs, it can be tricky to find a great color palette. You want to be classy but fun in your dining room. It should be colorful, but still sleek. In this blog post, we are going to share some color palettes we recommend and the palettes our clients have in their dining rooms.

Color Palettes for Wood Furniture

There are some colors that don’t suit certain stains and species of wood. So, it’s important to know what stain of your wood furniture you will have. We recommend visiting a furniture showroom in your local area to look at their species and stain options. This way, you can pick the perfect color palette that suits your wood furniture beautifully. Below are some color palettes we recommend when investing in wood furniture.

Yellows and Oranges

If you love bringing the sunshine in, a yellow and orange palette is for you. As you can see below, the brown (to mimic wood) is just a darker shade of orange. So, any warm-tone wood stain will match perfectly with a yellow and orange palette. You don’t have to use all of the colors in the color palette below. In fact, that would probably be too busy. You can choose just one or two shades to use as seat cushions, faux flowers, and even placemats. Feel free to save our color palette so you can bring it to your local furniture store or to use it as inspiration shopping online.

Green and Natural

Another way you can bring the outdoors in is by using a green color palette. Green in the home may sound like an intimidating palette because it’s hard to find green furniture and decor. But, the perfect way to implement green colors is through plants! As you can see in the Schombert family home, plants can bring out the natural tones in wood. And, it’s very difficult to over-do the green when you are relying on plants as decor. This client of ours also paired their plants with an earthy shade of blue, which suits their green plants perfectly.

However, if you don’t enjoy taking care of plants, this color palette can be difficult to achieve. Thankfully, there are many great fake plant options. Most craft stores sell believable fake plants in all different sizes. So, it makes it a bit easier to pull off this look if you don’t enjoy maintaining plants. If the airy and clean feel of the green shades below makes you feel at home, choose this color palette!

Blues

Blue is one of the most common color palettes people choose for their home decor. The color is calming and mellow, but it’s a perfect way to bring color into your dining room. Additionally, you can choose lighter blues if you feel navy is too dark for your space. With blue shades, there are just so many options!

In the images below, you will see two of our customers’ dining rooms. Each has a completely different feel because of the blue shades they chose. This is another reason blue is such a popular choice for color palettes. Each shade gives off a completely different look. Turquoise can give off a beachy feel, especially if you pair the color with seashells as the centerpiece of your dining table. However, dark blue and navy shades can be perfect for a dining room with a lot of natural sunlight. On the other hand, a light blue shade can brighten up your space without looking stale.

Black and White

Two colors that will never go out of style are white and black. If you opted for white and black home finishings, we highly recommend sticking with this color palette. It’s incredibly sleek and clean feeling, and it’s incredibly easy to pull off. When it comes to wood, choose a grey, white, or dark stain to complement your color palette. Below, you can see what a grey table looks like in a dining room with a white and black color palette. For chairs, we recommend using the opposite color to have a nice contrast with the table. This way, it will add some depth to your space and will prevent your dining table set from looking like a block.

Choosing Color Palettes with Wood Furniture

When it comes to debating color palettes to use with your wood furniture, be sure your palette complements the wood’s tones. This is if you already own a dining set, of course. But, if you don’t have a dining set already, look for a furniture store with many wood and stain options. This will make it much easier to have a put-together space.

A custom furniture store is likely the best place to find a wood dining table set. For example, at Unruh Furniture, we have dozens of combinations of wood species and stains. So, we enable our customers to purchase the best piece for their color palettes. Feel free to shop our line today by clicking “Dining” in the main navigation menu.
